Alison was one of three Thematic Experts supporting the URBACT Markets project from 2012 to 2015. The overall project goal was to understand and explore the role of urban markets as key drivers of change in terms of local economic development, regeneration and sustainable living. Alison’s role was to help the working group led by Westminster City Council on the ‘Low Carbon Economy and Local Supply Chains’ to define and understand this theme and to explore its relevance to their emerging Local Action Plans. As part of this she drafted some Thematic Guidelines which look at markets and the low carbon economy and presents some examples of good practice and opportunities for exchange and transfer between partner cities. She also supported the development of a Markets Action Plan for Central London and co-authored a Markets Handbook.
